In 1998, Mitchell Katz transformed a heartfelt tribute into a thriving winery, honoring his grandfather, Reginald Lord, who spent over 50 years crafting homemade wines. Inspired by those cherished memories, Mitch established Mitchell Katz Winery in Livermore Valley, dedicating it exclusively to producing single-vineyard wines that capture the essence of each vineyard.

Mitch’s journey began with summers spent assisting his grandfather in winemaking, instilling in him a passion for the craft. Without formal training, he embraced a hands-on approach, believing that “you can’t make good wine from bad grapes.” This philosophy led to the creation of award-winning wines that showcase the unique microclimates and soils of Livermore Valley.

By Wesley handling the day-to-day operations and Jackson overseeing the fine-tuning, they continue to honor their father’s commitment to quality and community.
